Eas Urchaidh (3)

Eas Urchaidh (3)
Eas Urchaidh ("Falls of Orchy") is the most obvious impressive waterfall on the River Orchy. Off one side of the river are the ancient Caledonian pinewoods of Allt Braighleachan.

The river has cut a rugged gorge through an outcrop of schistose pelite, including a lot of round potholes.

Having made photos at the bridge like everybody else years ago, this time I thought I'd fly the drone over the falls and use photogrammetry to build a 3d model, allowing me to synthesize a new composition and lighting using WebODM (OpenDroneMap) and Blender - this allows balancing how and where the lights are placed around the scene, with four hovering above the river, forming oblique angles to enhance the structure of the rock either side, while a larger area-light casts diffuse light filling in the shadows.
