Three of my favourite trees in the Caledonian Forest reserve at Glen Affric, early October morning mists rising over Sgurr na Lapaich in the distance.
The Caledonian Forest is a diverse habitat, its mixture of native woodland (Scots Pine, juniper, heather, birch and even a few aspen) home to all manner of native wildlife: from little birds such as chaffinches and bluetits (some so tame as to eat food off one's hand) to majestic Golden Eagles; from red deer to ants to pine marten.
