One of Five

One of Five
Noted in _Heritage Trees of Scotland_ (ISBN: 0904853063), this monster of a beech tree is one of only five in the UK known to exhibit layering - where branches drop to the earth and take root, forming new trees in a concentric pattern.

I've taken a few photos here before, but not from this angle. As dusk fell fast, I light-painted it from below with a small LED lamp, the light catching nearby branches and remaining beech leaves a brighter yellow contrasting with the cool blue sky behind.
