Restenneth Priory
An unexpected serendipitous discovery - driving back homewards, I saw signs to a priory ruin just off the roadside.
The origins are a little uncertain; it might even be that Restenneth might have been a Pictish church dating back to 710 CE; the Augustinian priory as it stands was founded in 1153 CE by Jedburgh Abbey.
The majority is now ruined, although the floor-plan is quite clear with stone walls remaining; the tower is in clearly excellent condition.
